As Indonesia’s largest geothermal energy producer, Star Energy Geothermal’s combined operations in Wayang Windu, Salak, and Darajat are capable of producing renewable energy to meet the electricity needs of millions of homes in Indonesia.

In April 2017, the Star Energy Geothermal Consortium completed the Share Sale and Purchase Agreements for the Salak and Darajat geothermal fields, which together generate 413 MW electricity and supply 235 MW of steam. This transaction is a major step towards our vision to be the world’s largest and leading geothermal company.
Our current operational highlights are:

Wayang Windu

Star Energy Geothermal (Wayang Windu) Limited has exclusive right until 2039 to develop contract area under Joint Operation Contract with PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE) and sale of electricity up to 400MW under Energy Sales Contract with PGE & PLN.

SEGWW is located 40 km south of Bandung in West Java and operates a total of 227 MW for the Java-Madura-Bali grid. The first Unit (110 MW) at Wayang Windu was completed in 1999 and, since 2000, has been producing at full capacity with an availability rate of over 98%. At the time of its installation, Unit 1 was the largest geothermal turbine in the world. On March 2nd 2009, the then Indonesian Minister of Energy and Resources officially inaugurated Wayang Windu Unit 2, which has a generation capacity of 117 MW from a single turbine.

Salak

Star Energy Geothermal Salak, Ltd has exclusive right until 2040 to develop contract area under Joint Operation Contract with PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE) and sale of geothermal energy and electricity up to 495 MW under Energy Sales Contract with PGE & PLN.

SEGS is located around 70 km from Jakarta, and supplies geothermal steam to generate electricity from a 180 MW power plant operated by PLN. SEGS also supplies geothermal steam and operates 197 MW power plants that generates electricity for the Java-Madura-Bali grid. An initial supply of steam produced in 1994 commenced SEGS’s commercial production, with 110 MW delivered to PLN. In 2005, SEGS achieved a generating capacity of 377 MW, marking it as one of the largest geothermal operations in the world.

Darajat

Star Energy Geothermal Darajat II, Limited has exclusive right until 2041 (for unit 1 & 2) and 2047 (for unit 3) to develop contract area under Joint Operation Contract with PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE) and sale of geothermal energy and electricity up to 330MW under Energy Sales Contract with PGE & PLN.

SEGD II supplies geothermal steam to the 55 MW power plant operated by PLN. It also supplies geothermal steam and operates a total of 216 MW, contributing electrical power to the Java-Madura-Bali grid. The commercial operations of Darajat geothermal project, located near Garut, West Java, commenced in November 1994 with a capacity near 145MW. With the completion and upgrading of Unit III in 2009, the total capacity of Darajat nearly doubled to 271 MW.

Hamiding

In 2013, Star Energy Geothermal was asked by the Government of Indonesia to conduct a Preliminary Survey (PSP) of a geothermal prospect in Gunung Hamiding, located in Indonesia’s North Maluku Province. Star Energy Geothermal completed the PSP in 2014 and continued to the Preliminary Survey and Exploration (PSPE) in 2018. As the holder of the PSPE, Star Energy Geothermal is obligated to conduct a drilling of at least one exploration well in Gunung Hamiding’s

Sekincau

PT Star Energy Geothermal Suoh Sekincau was awarded the Preliminary Survey and Exploration Assignment (PSPE) for South Sekincau, Lampung Province, based on ESDM Ministerial Decree No.1870 K/30/MEM/2018. For the first exploratory phase, Star Energy Geothermal committed to a minimum of one exploration well. The South Sekincau area has significant geothermal resources and Star Energy Geothermal’s conceptual model will utilize the integrative interpretation of 3G data collected by SEGSS in 2014 through a Preliminary Survey (PSP).
